Mother’s Day is around the corner and Nicole + I gathered a bunch of favorite things that we could give away to a lucky mom!
Motherhood has been the most cherished season of my life. I particularly love this age of David talking up a storm, repeating every single thing, and really expressing preferences, like construction trucks over any other kind of truck. And Luke is walking! There is almost nothing better than watching the pride spread across his face as he conquers a long stretch of a room. He watches David’s every move, and I know he is so happy to be able to feel even closer to him in this way.
There are certainly tough moments at times, but the sweet ones overshadow those dramatically.
Last week, when Luke had a high fever for an entire day, Justin was putting him to bed and left David and I to play in the play room. I started to cry, just from exhaustion and deep longing that Luke’s fever would break, and David gave me a concerned look and said,”Wake up Mama!” I laughed a little and told him mama was sad because Lukie was sick.
And then he dropped his trucks, walked over to me, and in the most gentle way possible, as if I was physically fragile, gave me a hug and said, “It’s okay mama. Okay okay okay.”
I’ll never forget that. It was one of the clearest times that he responded to me naturally versus being prompted (Ex. “go hug your brother and say you are sorry for throwing the ball at his face”).
