Around this time every year, Jo Malone launch a new addition to their Cologne Intense fragrance range. For those who aren’t familiar, the Cologne Intense range are those found in the black bottles. The signature to these is that they tend to be more oud or similar note based. They are (as the name does suggest) more intense. The new addition is the Jo Malone Vetiver & Golden Vanilla Cologne Intense and it’s a little bit special.

Typically Vetiver is a note that tends to be more in the masculine camp. But then when you throw in a note such as Vanilla which can be more feminine or neutral. When I compare this to more recent Jo Malone Cologne Intense launches there’s something really unusual about this one.
The Golden Vanilla is a really warm note in there. Where Vetiver tends to be more fresh and I’d describe it as zingy (but not like a lemon type of zingy). The combination is something that’s got a bit of a heady touch to it. The intense element is there but balanced out with the warmth of the Golden Vanilla.

The thing I would say about this fragrance is that even if you’ve not been a fan of the more intense Jo Malone options in the past then this is worth a try. The notes that are in there are familiar but in a more unusual combination.
