How to Prep Your Guest Room for Guests
You certainly don’t need to have a guest room in order to do these things, so keep in mind that you can do them in any space where guests may be staying!
Justin and I are very used to traveling for holidays, or simply random visits throughout the years, to our extended families’ homes since no one lives in our city (or state!). We’ve also hosted our family many times as well, so I’d say we both probably have a few things that we notice about staying in someone’s home, or hosting at ours, that provide comfort and ease.
I find a lot of joy in hosting. It’s truly a pleasure of mine so I thought I’d share a few things I try to do before guests come to stay at my house.
One. Put clean sheets on the bed, lay towels and washcloths out (either in the bathroom or on the bed), and make sure an extra blanket or two is visible as well. Two. Stock the bathroom with essentials like q-tips and toothpaste, and perhaps a few extra things that may have been forgotten during packing (pain reliever, a cell phone charger, or slippers).
Three. Make sure to have snacks or light bites available and visible for guests. Everyone has their own personal preference for snacking or when they eat meals, so providing a few small food options will keep hungry guests happy!
Four. Set up some lamps on timers. This is such an easy way to provide warmth and (duh) light to your home and keeps people from stubbing their toe on furniture they can’t see.
