How To Get Better Skin: Watermelon
By now it’s safe to say that if K-Beauty is doing it, we’re doing it. Apparently, watermelon is trending in K-beauty, and thanks to Glow Recipe’s sold-out sleeping mask, we’re onto summer’s favorite fruit for beauty benefits too!
Watermelon is a “superfood”—it’s low-cal but packs a whole lot of nutrients, plus it’s tasty. Watermelon is also booming with antioxidants, including vitamin C, which we know protect our cells from free radical damage, and thus premature aging of the skin. The amino acids arginine, which helps stimulate blood circulation, and citrulline, which acts as a water-binder and natural exfoliant, are also abundant in watermelon, making it beneficial for stimulating hair growth and hydrating the skin (calling all dry skin sufferers). The colorful fruit also has anti-inflammatory properties, thanks to an ingredient called lycopene, making it perfect for acne-prone skin. Vitamin A in watermelon helps to reduce the size of pores and curb oil-production, plus its high water content (92% to be exact) makes it a no-brainer when it comes to skincare.
