Getting To Know Pixi Beauty's NEW Rose Caviar Essence & Flash Balm (Plus A Touch Of Flower Arranging)
I'm such a flower girl. My flat is usually covered in bunches I've picked up or Josh has come home with just because, while every room has a corner of house plants or a rogue stem or two of hydrangeas I've picked from the garden. There's something about a beautiful bloom that brightens a living space, but I have to admit I've never been that au fait with arranging the things; my usual style is trimming the stems, shoving them in an expensive looking vase and hoping for the best. When the babes over at Pixi Beauty invited myself and Kirsty from Fashion For Lunch to Jane Packer's Flower School for the morning, we jumped at the chance to get our metaphorical floral crowns on. Located in the heart of Marylebone, the store is a delight for the eyes; with so many beautiful seasonal stems on offer, as well as a huge selection of house plants and silk arrangements, I pretty much wanted to buy the whole store and take it home - but instead we got to grips with creating our own bouquet and learning some tips of the trade.
Apparently when it comes to flower arranging we all have a natural left or right side; if you take a singular stem and place another over the top of it angled with the stem to the right, followed by a few more to check, you'll instantly know whether this direction feels natural or awkward. Flip it over and do the same, placing the stems with their base pointing to the left, just to confirm which way you're naturally inclined to create from. This is the secret to ...
