Recent conversations (both that I've observed and have been part of) have left a very nasty taste in my mouth. With so much advice online and so many self-proclaimed beauty or skincare experts, it's hard to know who to trust and who has an ulterior motive lingering beneath the surface; so many of us are sharing tips, tricks and thoughts - and the majority have no qualification to do so. Admittedly I don't have a degree in cosmetic science (although I did start studying for one!) but I do have thirteen years worth of experience in product development, cosmetics and ingredients legislation, store marketing, branding and promotion; although I'm by no means an expert, I have enough knowledge (that's ever expanding) to offer a relatively informed and balanced view that's in tune with the average consumer. I would *always* recommend readers with genuine skin conditions and complaints to visit a doctor, dermatologist or skincare specialist for targeted advice and treatment, but on the whole people are just looking for digestible advice and recommendations that they can buy from Boots in their lunchbreak.
