Summer’s motto is less is more, and although I love a deep aubergine lip or a smokey slate eye, I’m not quite ready to let go of my barely-there makeup looks. Come fall, there are days when I still want to appear like I’m not trying too hard, and the key to an undone/ done look is starting with a flawless complexion (more on this in a later post), and adding a bit of glow…everywhere.
Here are six products I’m currently coveting for natural glowy vibes:
I’d be remiss to write this post without starting it off with Barbara Sturm’s Glow Drops ($135). Technically a skincare product, I love using this as part of my makeup routine. You can apply by mixing a few drops into your moisturizer or foundation, but I actually use the Glow Drops on top of my makeup — as a final step, dabbing on cheekbones. It sinks into the skin beautifully, doesn’t leave any streaks, and actually breaks up harsh lines created by bronzers and blushes. Smashbox Cover Shot Eye Palettes in Petal Metal ($29) offers a range of shimmering nudes and golds, including the looks-good-on-every-skin-tone rose gold, for a sultry, shimmery eye. I’m into the tawny-beiges and shimmering rose golds to add a wash of color, without seeming too made up. If you prefer a bold eye, and at night, I certainly do, this palette can appease. Just add the dark brown to the crease and smoke it out. Remember to blend everything so it looks creaseless.
