A Few Great Books I’ve Read
One Blood: Parting Words to the Church on Race and Love, by Dr. John Perkins : I read through this book over the summer in 2020 and spent time discussing it every other week or so with my friend Kathleen. It was not only very timely but also eye-opening and educational.
We Were the Lucky Ones by Georgia Hunter : You know those books that you cannot get out of your head" This is one of those books for me. I still think about this family and all that they went through during WWII.
Better Than Before: Mastering the Habits of Our Everyday Lives by Gretchen Rubin : I read this book years ago but it made a huge impact on how I’m able to understand my ability to form habits and actually succeed. For example, I’m an “Obliger” (per the book) and it wasn’t until I found a workout routine that involved friends who were counting on me for me to really stick to something. The Guest List by Lucy Foley : A twisty murder mystery that started a touch slow but then I flew through the last half of the book and was very surprised at the ending.
The Light We Lost by Jill Santopolo : A love story involving a life-altering choice
Homer’s Odyssey by Gwen Cooper : I read this book so long ago but I remember really enjoying it! It’s about a blind cat and how he impacts his owner.
Currently reading:
How To Be An Antiracist by Ibram X. Kendi : I’m working slowly through this but am interested in learning about Kendi’s experience.
