Katy Perry’s newest collection with affordable drugstore brand CoverGirl will have you rethinking the notion that drugstore equals cheap in dollars and in product. Let me just get this out of the way: the Hot Kat eyeshadow palette is just as good as its higher-end competitors, in color and wearability, and even cuter when it comes to the kitten-shaped center shades. If you only purchase one product from the collection, make it this 10-hued palette: you’ll use it forever to create countless wearable eye looks, from a wash of gold shimmer to a smokey eye to a more colorful berry-inspired look. And this is just with one palette. There’s a second one too: a more colorful palette called Cool Kat that contains 10 bolder, punchier shades, from pastel pink to slate grey. I decided on a golden subtle smokey eye, lining the bottom and top lash lines with the dark brown shadow, really hugging the lashes to make it more of an eye opener as opposed to a liner. I used the shimmer eggshell shade on the inner corners of my eye and my brow bone for added pop. The CoverGirl Katy Kat Lip Glosses ($8) are my second must from the collection, most notably the Cantaloupe shade, a shimmery cantaloupe-nude. It’s definitely more creamy then glossy, which I prefer and it had crazy unexpected longevity.
