Oh lukie! My baby is one!
Let me tell you a little bit about him.
Luke’s timing was such a fun surprise! It wasn’t a surprise pregnancy, because we were trying for a second, but it was a surprise that it happened so quickly considering it took 14 months to get pregnant with David. We decided to wait to find out whether I was having a boy or girl until the day Luke was born, and Justin and I were THRILLED to discover another boy! A brother for David! Two boys! I said “A boy" Are you sure" That’s so FUN!” in the operating room when he was born (via c-section).
Luke was an easy newborn, as most are in their newborn coma like state, but at about 8 weeks he embarked on a 2 month long journey of crying/screaming all day. It was colic, the doctors told me, and we did everything we could to help him. And suddenly, 2 months after it began, it stopped. It was a Wednesday. And I remember thinking,”huh, this has been a good day”, and I then the good days continued. That season of colic was very hard. Very taxing, on all parties, and I’ll never forget how deeply grateful I was for the help from my family and friends.
Over the last year, Luke has developed at his own pace. I think he’s going to have strong opinions and be a bit intense (neither of which are bad traits if they are directed properly). He’s loud and always moving, but he’s also quite affectionate and generally happy. You can always get a sm...
