How to coordinate lipstick and blush tones
I love wearing brighter lipsticks and blush shades in the summer, but there is an art to making sure the two don’t conflict on your face! So today, I’m breaking down how to pair the right lipstick and blush tone based on whether it’s cool, warm, or neutral!
I pulled out a bunch of different lipsticks from my stash, and unfortunately some are discontinued, but everything that is still available is linked up for you!
Let’s start with cool pinks!
cool pinks: Smashbox Be Legendary Long-Wear Lip Lacquer in Pretty Social, Tarte Amazonian Clay 12-hour Blush in Flush, Urban Decay lipstick in Turn On, Smashbox Be Legendary lipstick in Panorama Pink
When something is referred to as “cool” or “warm” it’s describing the tone of the makeup. Cool tones often have purple, blue, or sometimes green undertones to them, so they fall on the cooler part of the color wheel. Typically if you have a pink undertone to your skin, it leans towards the cool end of the spectrum. The easiest way to look for an undertone in lipstick is to swatch it, or apply it to your lips, and hold a purple or violet object near it to see how they compliment each other.
Next up are warm coral or orange shades.
warm corals: Tarte Amazonian Clay 12-hour Blush in Tipsy, YSL Volupte Sheer Candy in 10, Smashbox Be Legendary Lipstick in L.A. Sunset
Warm colors can be a bit harder to wear, but when they’re done right, they’re beautiful! Warm tones look great...
