First Impression: Maybelline Dream Velvet Foundation

With all of these drugstore releases it's hard to keep up! I feel like every time I sneeze, Maybelline is releasing a new foundation. I truly do like most of them so I rarely hesitate to pick one up whenever they come out with a new launch. The new Maybelline Dream Velvet Foundation is described as a soft-matte hydrating foundation, which is an oxymoron if I ever heard one.
I decided to take it for a spin and do a first impression of the shade Coconut (95), the default shade of dark skin girls everywhere in the world of Maybelline. Watch to see how it turned out!
Maybelline also released the Dream Blender Foundation Blending Sponge to apply the foundation.
I laughed a bit when I saw this and have yet to muster up the energy to use it. It's like a super firm beauty blender with a handle. While the Beauty Blender (and most beauty sponges) are soft, this is quite firm. According to some on YouTube it's a neat little tool but as someone who owns A LOT of brushes, I'll pass. If you're just starting out with makeup and aren't looking to spend a lot of money, you can pick this up but I'd recommend the Real Technique sponge instead. The Maybelline Dream Velvet Foundation ($10.99) and Dream Blender Foundation Blending Sponge ($5.99) are available in drugstores and Ulta this month.
