Cold Shoulder Casual
The cold shoulder trend came on fast and furious. It took me a minute to get on board, but when I found a few tops that really worked for me and didn’t feel fussy, I was sold.
I chose a beautiful navy blue cold shoulder top during my last styling appointment at Trunk Club in Chicago that you may remember from this post. I wore it on a date and felt so feminine and pretty. It was a bit of an investment, so I was thrilled to find a much less expensive option for a more casual outfit at Old Navy! Initially I bought this top in white, but it’s so unbelievably see-thru that I returned it immediately and chose the black option.
I have 2 colors of these easy pull on shorts from J.Crew Factory that I would highly recommend. They are perfect. They stretch a bit and have an elastic waist, and come in such fun color options. If you are in need of shorts this summer, these are what I would direct you towards!
To me, this style of outfit works for day or evening. I’d simply swap my wedges* out for some flats if I was wearing it to a playdate!
*my wedges are several years old, but I found some similar ones here! And also these!
p.s. some other cute shorts! Photos by Jordan Maunder at the beautiful Matthews House in Cary, NC.Â
