Caramel Dip for Apples

While I make a lot of my mom’s recipes, there are some that bring me right back to my childhood more than others. She used to make the best nacho dip for chips, which I have yet to recreate myself, and I vividly remember sitting on the pull-out bed from the couch and watching a movie with my siblings while eating it.
This caramel apple dip is another recipe that reminds me a lot of my childhood. I can’t pinpoint a specific memory, but I just remember eating it with fresh apples we had just picked from a nearby apple orchard.
This dip is a sweet, light colored caramel dip that is AMAZING with apples!
Caramel Dip for Apples
1 can sweetened condensed milk
3/4 C light corn syrup
1 C sugar
1/8 teaspoon salt
1/4 C butter 1 teaspoon vanilla
Bring milk, syrup, sugar and salt to a boil*. Let boil for 2-4 minutes, until everything has mixed together. Remove from heat and then add butter and vanilla. The caramel will be light in color when you are finished!
*there is a difference between a rapid boil and a ‘medium’ boil. Basically, you want the caramel boiling, but at a controlled boil instead of letting it get too hot and turn into a rapid boil
Trust me, serve this at your next get together and it will be a hit! I served it to my friends with small paper ice cream bowls so they could pour some caramel into the bowl, and then set their apples up in it vertically!
